Entre Deux Eaux imagines a world that exists after the rise of the waters, an ecosystem formed in the space between extinction and renewal. It is a place where the boundaries between species dissolve: mollusks meet fungi, slugs merge with algae, and new hybrid forms emerge to inhabit what humanity has left behind. The pearly basins at the heart of the installation, evoking both oyster shells and oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus), hold traces of liquid life, our blood, our flesh, our watery remains. Inspired by Astrida Neimanis’ hydrofeminism, Nouvel envisions a future shaped not by separation but by entanglement, where care and interdependence replace control. In this submerged world, life continues through adaptation and exchange, reminding us that even after disappearance, new forms of coexistence can still take shape.
